WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!
It’s time to announce the results of the December 1st showdown.

This battle featured a mournful Linkin Park song.
Probably not the best choice for the "festive" season! ๐ค

Both covers were by unknown bands: The Lost, from Texas, and Deine Lakaien, from Germany.
Most people thought the German band was too depressing, intense, etc., and The Lost won by a landslide!

I love dramatic music, so I chose Deine Lakaien. The vocals and melancholy vibe won me over completely. (Must be the German in me! ๐)

This BOTB theme is now officially retired.
I found it too limiting and it wasn't a great success.

The way I see it is that BOTB is a great forum for experimentation and introducing music that interests us to others. I've had my share of Battles that didn't go other so well, but still I enjoyed doing them. You gave us an interesting Battle. Something I hadn't heard before.

Thanks, Lee! I like to find material that most people aren't familiar with. That said, I'm doing a special edition BOTB on Dec. 25 using a well-known song.
DeleteThe theme was definitely something different, so points for that. But I can certainly see how limiting it would be.
ReplyDeleteI've got a new BOTB theme beginning on January 1st next year. It's a very specific theme, but it has an enormously wide amount of variety within it. Should be fun, methinx. (Imagine Sinatra versus The Beatles versus The Doors versus Willie Nelson versus Ella Fitzgerald versus Lynyrd Skynyrd versus Xavier Cugat versus... the possibilities are almost endless!)

I wanted to try something different, but next year will probably be random again. Before then, I'm doing a special edition BOTB on Dec. 15th with a well-known song. Looking forward to your new series, Stephen! Mary hinted that you two were cooking something up. ☺
