MY GENERATION - BOTB RESULTS (DOGLADY'S DEN WORDPRSS POST)

MY GENERATION by THE WHO – #BOTB RESULTS

Welcome back! It’s time to announce results for the Mar. 1st BOTB post

Battle of the Bands BOTB MY GENERATION

BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Series and StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.

This one pitted American supergroup, Hollywood Vampires
against Italian blues/rock band, Slow Feet

#BOTB Results. MY GENERATION. See who won the Mar. 1st Battle of the Bands!Share on X

This sure was an interesting battle! At first, it appeared that Slow Feet might win by a large margin, but slowly, the votes for Hollywood Vampires started coming in. (It doesn’t hurt to have Johnny Depp in the lineup. 🙂 )

I was happy to have found two covers that were so different in style. The Vampires mirrored the original while Slow Feet put an interesting jazzy/blues spin on it, which I liked a lot. Still, I had to go with Johnny, Alice, Joe et al. That song was such a significant part of my youth and they were faithful to The Who’s version.

AND THE WINNER IS:

#BOTB TIE! THE WHO. MY GENERATION

For the second time!

  1. I’m a bit of a wet blanket on artists who jump out of their original claim-to-fame and try something different. This song was an exception – I really like the Hollywood Vampires’ version and that’s at least two that I picked that were winners. It’s like the planetary alignment has completely changed.

    Thanks, Debbie!

  2. Glad you had a good time at the convert.
Always hurts to have a tie, but I think it hurts a little less than having a song run away with the competition.
Wow, your upcoming line-up is beginning to look like my upcoming line-up. I may have to cancel the weekend and just work on my blogging.
I like the My Life According To… challenge. Looks fun. I shall try to get to it if possible.
So much to blog, so little time. And April right around the corner!!!

  3. I was a bit surprised at the outcome, Shady. It looked liked Slow Feet had a lock on this, early on. I like their version a lot, but in the end, it was the Vampires who triggered that nostalgic, emotional response. 🙂 Ties are pretty rare, but this is the second time I’ve had one. Glad you enjoyed the battle!

  4. Great battle! It is always neat to have a tie even though I did not go with Johnny Depp. I look at the Who and think..wow they got grey hair:)They are still one of the coolest around

    1. This is the second time I’ve had a tie. What are the odds, I wonder? I have grey hair too, as did much of the audience at The Who concert. 🙂 Roger Daltrey looks amazing for 72. Pete still does his signature “windmill” move and he’s 70. Rock and roll keeps you young at heart. 😀

    1. It might happen again; one never knows. 🙂 This is the second time I’ve had a tie. Jeff Healey and Steppenwolf were also co-winners for “Hoochie Coochie Man”.

    1. Not what I expected, Michele. 🙂 Slow Feet came out strong, but the Vampires caught up later on. The Who always put on a great show. Hard to believe it’s been 50 years since they started. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

  5. If the live versions had been presented I would have probably gone with the Vampires since I was mostly voting for the electric violin in the studio version.

Nice even outcome for a good match-up.
