Greetings, all! 👋 Just a quick note to let you know that I'm currently taking a break from BOTB. While I've enjoyed participating, my main website is thriving to such a degree that I'm having trouble keeping up! Something had to give, and for now, that's Battle of the Bands. I will do my best to visit and vote on your battles when I can. Thank you so much for your support! 💖 As always, "Sharing is Caring" . Spread this musical joy all over your social networks. 🙌 Hashtags are #BOTB and #dogladysden Next Battle on this site will be T.B.A. I'm taking a break for now. ROCK ON! HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN - BOTB RESULTS (DOGLADY'S DEN WORDPRESS POST)
Welcome back! It’s time to announce results for the Sept. 15 BOTB post
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by Far Away Seriesand StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands. is where you listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best. Two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. Votes will be tallied and posted the following week.
This song has long been a favourite of mine and I’m a fan of all three artists shown. After so many lop-sided battles, I wanted to find a pairing that would be closely contested and this did not disappoint! The lead passed from John to Jeff and back again numerous times, currently sitting at 12 to 11 for Jeff. This is the first time my vote could decide the outcome. so here goes….
Confession time: I’m a John Kay super fan(atic) and his voice always gives me chills! He’s one of my musical heroes, along with John Lennon and Eric Burdon. Much as I love Jeff Healey’s version and the Road House movie, I choose John Kay & Steppenwolf. Which means….
THE WINNER IS:
JOHN KAY & STEPPENWOLF / THE JEFF HEALEY BAND
12 votes each!
That was fun! Let’s see how close the next one will be.
Here are the co-winners. John from “Live in Louisville” and Jeff from “Road House”:
Don’t forget to check back with the others, for their BOTB results:
DEBBIE ~ Congratulations on your TIE! Now ya know how it feels. Ha!-Ha! I think it was Yogi Berra who said: “A tie is like kissing your sister”. And that’s the way I feel about ’em. I’m seriously TIrEd of ’em! I like to see SOMEONE win (even if it’s not my own personal choice to win).
But after having had so many lopsided outcomes, I can easily imagine how good a tie probably feels to ya!
Well, now you’re well on yer way to figuring out what it takes to create a BOTB tie, and experience is practice and practice makes perfect. I have a feeling your future BOTB blog bits will become much more competitive from now on.
Your tie surprises me, because the last time I looked, Healey was “pushing” Steppenwolf around, and I thought maybe Kay was “born to be mad”. Glad it worked out this way for you.
To me, the ABSOLUTE ULTIMATE BOTB OUTCOME is when MY OWN VOTE determines the winner. I’ve had that happen a few times and boy-oh-boy is THAT fun! But second best, to me, is when my own vote can save my choice from a loss (i.e., I make ’em tie!)
Ties are kind of unsatisfying, Stephen, as you said, but yes, I am glad that I was able to save John from losing. He got many of the later votes. I’m hoping the next battle will be close as well.
Is this going to be the BOTB week where we see a lot of ties? I think this is the second so far and currently I think mine is very close (though I admit I have not counted yet).
Gosh this was a great BOTB and I am actually glad it is a tie
How fun that you had a tie!! Glad John Kay won. Fun battle!
WOW! A tie! That’s really cool
I hope to one day achieve a tie so I can be tie-breaker.
First one, Madilyn!
I was glad to save one of my favourite artists from losing.
This was a tough choice! I’m glad to see the tie, and that both artists are appreciated. Great job, Debbie (smile). See you on October 1st, then.
Glad you enjoyed the battle, Dixie. I was happy John didn’t have to lose.
Shows you are the Hostess with the mostess… now everybody is happy!
I suppose, but I wanted my favourite to win it without my help. Oh well!
Next one should be tough also.
DEBBIE ~

It’s always interesting to see how the vote goes.
It went back and forth several times. The next one should be equally difficult.
Thanks for dropping by.

Might be, Jeffrey.
I saw Stephen had a tie as well and I’ll be checking out the rest now.
A tie is an apt outcome for this pairing. They were both excellent recordings.

True, but I was rooting for John!
I kind of had a feeling it might work out that way–that’s what it was doing when I voted–back and forth. They both deserved to win.
They did, but I was rooting for John. Oh well, at least my vote saved him from losing!
