WELCOME BACK TO BOTB!
It’s time to announce the results of the Jan. 15th showdown.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB), hosted by StMcC Presents Battle of the Bands is where you listen to different recordings (usually of cover songs), and vote for the one you like best. There are two “Battles” per month, on the 1st and 15th. (Some of us choose one date OR the other. Mine are scheduled for the 15th only.) Votes will be tallied and posted the following week. Given Van Morrison’s popularity, I was expecting this to be a fairly close battle, but it didn’t turn out that way! Most of you preferred Eric Burdon’s version, as did I. Van and his band sounded good, but, the trademark grittiness of Eric’s vocals get me, every time! 
Sorry, Van.

I had the pleasure of watching Eric perform this live in 2014 and took some footage.
He was 73 years old at the time. Still amazing!

Yeh! That was a good battle, Debbie! Both bands rock!
Congrats on a stellar battle! You really couldn’t go wrong with either. I am also surprised that more folks didn’t prefer Van (not more than Eric – I knew he stood a great chance of taking it, and he did – but that only six people preferred Van. Maybe he’ll get ’em next time!
Winner, winner, chicken dinner… This was an enjoyable joust, Debbie!
DEBBIE, I’m surprised this wasn’t a whole lot closer. In fact, I think this was the only Battle in this round that didn’t have an extremely close outcome.
Oh, well. It was a very nice turnout and a 6-vote margin of victory is a blowout, but not a massive blowout.

Not as close of an outcome as other results I’ve seen so far in this round, but still nothing to frown at. This was actually a pretty good Battle. And since I was on the winning side it was all the better.

You had a decent turn out for this battle round. Eric had twice the number of votes. Unfortunately, my pick did not win. That’s okay everyone can’t be right all the time. It’s sure lonely being in the right crowd though. lol Congrats to Eric on his victory in this showdown!!
